SILVIA ARGIOLAS - Song of myself

La Galleria Richter è lieta di presentare martedì 20 Settembre la nuova mostra personale di Silvia Argiolas Song of Myself, con una serie di dipinti e disegni inediti.

“Ho scelto questo titolo ("Song of Myself") – afferma l’artista - partendo dalla poesia omonima di Walt Whitman, in cui esso celebra non sé stesso ma il vivere di cui si fa

portavoce. Perché quello che vive attraverso il suo corpo è l’esistere stesso, di cui tutti siamo parte”.

Il poeta, come l’artista, si completa nell’altro. Nel suo sguardo, nel suo far parte del tutto – umano e non, nel suo essere contraddittorio nell’utopia di un ideale, tanto distante dall’umano imperfetto. L’empatia dell’essere umano fa da tramite: perché quello che sente ognuno di noi, fa parte anche dell’altro, come uno specchio.

L’opera d’arte è il testimone di questo legame, è appartenenza alla vita stessa che onoriamo quotidianamente semplicemente passandoci attraverso.

Il lavoro dell’artista è dunque creare una sorta di empatia con chi guarda, di trasmettere la stessa percezione di quello che noi stiamo vivendo (ciò che fa anche il poeta).

Alla sua seconda personale in galleria, con una questa nuova serie di disegni e dipinti, Argiolas racconta con quanta superficialità ognuno di noi si guarda e si racconta a sua volta. La speranza è riuscire trasmettere davvero le nostre emozioni all’altro e riuscire a trasmettere che le opere stesse esistono grazie allo sguardo dell’altro. Song of Myself funziona realmente se c’è l’altro e dunque se si riesce a creare il giusto livello di empatia tra l’opera e chi la guarda.

In occasione dell’opening sarà presentato anche il libro d’artista, il terzo della serie “Quaderno” della Galleria Richter Fine Art, dove saranno pubblicati alcuni disegni di Silvia Argiolas, insieme a un intervento degli artisti Luca Grechi e Giulio Catelli.

L’edizione, stampata in 250 copie con il Design curato da Marco Emmanuele, è pubblicato dalla casa editrice Aniene di Alessandro Dandini de Sylva.

SILVIA ARGIOLAS nasce a Cagliari nel 1977, vive e lavora a Milano.

Tra le sue mostre collettive possiamo citarne alcune delle più recenti: nel 2021 Marginalia – Le forme della libertà al Castello Visconteo di Pavia, nel 2020 PHOENIX – the resurrection show alla Galerie Rompone a Köln, Germany; nel 2015 PanoRama a Torino e La fomosa invasione degli artisti a Milano presso la Galleria Antonio Colombo, Milano; nel 2014 Selvatico tre una testa che guarda al Museo Civico delle Cappuccine a Bagnocavallo (RA) e P2P #02 – Deep presso la galleria Circoloquadro, Milano.

Le sue opere sono state esposte in diverse occasioni tra cui molte fiere di arte contemporanea, una tra tutte Artissima nel 2017.

Richter Gallery is pleased to present on Tuesday 20 September the new solo exhibition of Silvia Argiolas Song of Myself, with a series of unpublished paintings and drawings.

"I chose this title (" Song of Myself ") - says the artist - starting from the poem of the same name by Walt Whitman, in which it celebrates not itself but the way of life

spokesman. Because what lives through her body is existence itself, of which we are all a part ".

The poet, like the artist, is completed in the other. In his gaze, in his being part of the whole - human and otherwise, in his contradictory being in the utopia of an ideal, so distant from the imperfect human. The empathy of the human being acts as an intermediary: because what each of us feels is also part of the other, like a mirror.

The work of art is the witness of this bond, it is belonging to life itself that we honor every day simply by passing through it.

The artist's job is therefore to create a sort of empathy with the viewer, to convey the same perception of what we are experiencing (what the poet also does).

At her second solo show in the gallery, with this new series of drawings and paintings, Argiolas tells how superficially each of us looks at each other and tells each other about her. The hope is to be able to truly convey our emotions to the other and to be able to convey that the works themselves exist thanks to the gaze of the other. Song of Myself really works if there is the other and therefore if you can create the right level of empathy between the work and the viewer.
